There’s no strict dribble rule, but generally, an assist is awarded if the scorer takes two dribbles or fewer, or none, showing immediate intent to score after the pass, often in continuous motion towards the basket… Google is free.
Stats are stupid now, how is that not a padded assist? The guy took 2 steps after getting the pass! Stockton and Magic never got those assists counted towards their totals. The NBA is just a sham now.
