My mum and I went on a tour of the Air Canada Centre in 2001 and he glided past us in the corridor, with such a respected aura and polite presence… RIP Mr Wilkens, absolute legend 🏆

Rest in Peace… an all time great in every regard. I witnessed him meet Obama and it was an awesome moment. A great man.

He was like the Chris Paul of his era the way he was regarded as a floor general with his IQ plays, ability to pass and score and shift the tempo of the game and the fact that he was doing this well into his old age. Unfortunately didn’t get to see much of it but he’s definitely one of the unsung legends of his time balling out, like many stars that came from that era that aren’t remembered in today’s basketball.
