I mean Silver is trying everything even bringing a mid season cup to try and motivate the players
The only thing they could do that would work is take their money away. Bring guaranteed contracts, bonuses like you gotta play a certain amount to earn your max pay
Take money away from them, NBA players are entitled and have no desire to be great and have a body of work to leave behind
They want to collect that big cheque and peace out.

Players aren’t hungry. When the salaries weren’t excessive, players played their butts off. They wanted those endorsements to help supplement their salary.

Why would SGA play with the European players when Canada is part of North America and part of the NBA? Should be North America vs Europe. USA vs World just sounds corny and outdated

You’re forgetting what made the NHL tournament so successful, it was USA vs. Canada! The NBA should do the same! I wanna see a team Canada, vs a team USA vs the world!

One issue America has is right now, this next generation is so athletic and essentially the game is won in the fast break; the most athletic team.
The basketball IQ isn’t necessarily taught whereas it’s taught overseas.
They develop the IQ in highschool/college etc which continues to be the reason they are separating themselves from the younger American kids.

The issue with the NBA, the players don’t seem to play for the love of the game! Instead strictly business! And the parity between USA basketball and the rest of the world is massive.

I’ve been into the game since 1990. This is the THIRD year I haven’t:
– watched the NBA season
– watched anything of All Star Weekend
– haven’t / won’t watch the playoffs
– haven’t / won’t watch the NBA Finals

4:11 to be fair, Connor McDavid makes 12 million a year, plus he has a large amount of commercial sponsors and endorsement deals. He will likely sign a new deal in the coming year that will exceed $15 million/year. The average team salary in the NHL is about $85 million, and our cap is rising to ~$113 million (from just $88m) by 2028. It’s only about half of what the average NBA team roster salary is but it’s more than it used to be. Hockey players just aren’t really the type of guys who live in excess. A lot of family men and golf bros.

The bit you know these guys have no clue about hockey is when they talk about how little the NHL guys make and comparing Mcdavid to a guy on the bench in the NBA. Top NHL guys make 12-14 million a year. So they make a fraction of the very top NBA players.
