Eliminate back-to-backs. Limit games for teams to 3-4 max/week.

Most guys I work with on Ash Wednesday:
    “Take a long lunch?”
“Yo you got dirt on your forehead.”
“Lemme wipe that off for ya.”
“Oh I see you helped out the laborers today.”

“You can hear about how somebody played, or read about the best way to achieve success, but people need to set examples. Until they see, they won’t do. It’s easy to talk about what Jerry West did, but it’s not easy to see what he did. Tomorrow’s kids are going to have to see someone playing hurt, see someone practicing the day after winning a championship. We have to provide examples so they can relate to that ideal. Otherwise, they will get bad habits. If we lose that gap, then it starts to fade away, and 20 years from now, you will never see someone play sick or get out on the floor with a sore ankle.”

load management is only an issue cause athlete’s bodies are so expensive now to maintain. Casuals want to compare NBA eras and say the older generations were tougher. But athletes in the modern NBA are WAY MORE athletic than the dudes who played back then. That’s why people are still getting injured despite all the advances in in medical. Athletes are just getting faster, stronger, and athletes are jumping higher than ever before. Only thing they can do to combat load management is to get the best trainers and make sure these guys are conditioning properly. But even then some are still scared to get injured and lose out on future contracts

One of potential solutions: give more advantages to high-seed playoff teams
Home court is not worth risking injuries
    Hence, load management…

Examples of advantages other than home court
    1. Fouls related advantages. Ex: higher seed can have opponent players foul out after 5 fouls
    2. Time out related advantages. Ex: higher seed can have more time outs
    3. Players related advantages. Ex: higher seed can have more bench players
    4. Draft related advantages. Ex: #1 seed guaranteed middle of the pack pick (not bottom ones)

The problem isn’t load management. The problem is when they should play. If healthy give them a few minutes. Manage minutes for rotational use

The NHL has an 82 game regular season and starts and ends around the same time as NBA. Hockey is a more physical game and yet this LM issue doesn’t exist there. It boggles my mind that the core of the issue is that NBA is just a soft league where the players are being coddled. There’s really no other explanation.

As a huge NBA fan…that is the absolute TRUTH! People love to say this is the best the players have ever been in history, the strongest, the fastest, etc. But players used to play 82 games in Chuck Taylors, fought through pain, took pride in being gladiators. Pushing yourself to the limit is no longer valued in today’s NBA. This is the softest era in basketball history, bottom line.

Solution would be to extend the regular season a month but keeping the same number of games. Have more days off to rest

Sum NBA players just lazy simple as that and the fact that there’s people out here defending that is mind-blowing and delusional to me I know people that work Monday through Friday and do overtime Saturday and these players talk about they need to rest and they only play 48 minutes

Just like every human out there once you get that bag at work you can slack a little. This gives the ones still coming up a chance to prove themselves. So if the star sits then the bench guy can show out and try to get his bag. Win win in my opinion. F your opinions because you are not the one who signs their checks. And it’s all about the post season anyways. If the star of my team sat out I’d be like get some rest and “GO BUCKS GO”! It’s a team sport and there’s still a game to be played. You people talk about the nba getting soft but its the fans thats soft af. Crying about what others do that you have no control over.

When players sit out for load management, they should create other ways for them to make it up for the fans by signing autographs or taking pictures etc or some kind of fan interaction. so atleast it shows that they care and appreciate those for coming out

I’ll play devils advocate. I don’t really empathize with the players outside of back to backs. NBA players have the best contracts in professional sports, an off-season, etc. You’re getting paid 10-40 million guaranteed to be available. Outside of being injured, you should be available. I’m located in NY and I used to go to 8-10 Knick games a year. Average decent ticket by me is $350-400 against an average team. Any upper echelon team that has stars? You’re looking at around 750-800. I got burned twice and I’m no longer paying 7-8000 a year to watch backups run around the Garden. Luckily for the Knicks the Garden itself is more of a tourist trap, so they’ll always be full. But, I won’t be back any time soon.
