The Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Philadelphia 76ers, 94-92. Kenneth Lofton Jr. led all scorers with 21 points, 13 rebounds, and 4 assists for the Grizzlies, while GG Jackson added 10 points in the victory. Terquavion Smith tallied a team-high 18 points for the 76ers.

He needs to massively step up his defense if he even wants to be a rotation player. He is still far to slow on that end to cover on the perimeter, yet at 6’8 he’s way too short to provide actual rim protection. He definitely has scoring ability, but right now he’s still such a negative defensively you can’t play him

He ain’t coming close to that until he makes a big jump defensively, he’s legitimately that bad on that end. Too slow to guard wings, too short to protect the paint

U got smart at the perimeter if he plays like he did at boston and u got adams and jjj protecting the rim..might as well put him in there bc just to be 20 years old and already putting up 40 in a real nba game he could help out alot on the offense maybe 15ish points per game type of situation..memphis needs more offensive weapons that’s why they got rid of dillon

1) He’s so bad defensively that he gives up more than he brings on offense.
2) He put up that 40 vs what was essentially the Thunder’s G-League team that had no size inside, which is the same environment he went against in the G-League. Whenever he played against C’s with actual size, both in the G-League and with the Grizzlies main squad, he struggled mightily because despite his 2/4 shooting tonight he was only a 25% 3-pointer shooter last year, and he gave up a ton of offensive rebounds in those minutes as well. He definitely has the potential if he can become even just a below average defender (although even that would still probably make him unplayable in the playoffs), but if and until then he’s nothing more than a late game attraction like say Taco Fall or Boban
3) We got rid of Brooks because we need more floor spacing from that role, and like I mentioned earlier Kenny was only a 25% 3-point shooter last year on a decent volume, so even assuming he improves his defense that would still leave us with another non-shooter in the lineup and wouldn’t solve the issue we wanted to improve by moving on from DB

@BetleyIsland36 im not saying he’s gonna be charles barkley or something..but with Clarke out he could help Memphis on the offensive end..and it doesn’t matter he still put up 40 against pros..like i said in my post he’s not gonna put up 40 every game…but 10 15 is good enough as long as he’s putting points on the board and other guys that are better than him offensively are stepping up.memphis dont need him to shoot 3s he needs to be in the post..he’ll never be good enough if memphis dont give him playing time..thats how u gain experience..im not telling memphis to make him ja but if you got ziare williams out there(he’s fallen off drastically last season) might as well try lofton out sometimes it wouldn’t hurt

No he got released at the end of the regular season after Adams was ruled out for the playoffs. We released him to be able to convert Lofton’s two-way deal to a standard deal incase we had another injury with our bigs and needed him to play in the playoffs. Chandler is going to be on the Nets Summer League team when they head to Vegas
