The Clippers weren’t in the play-in this year. Makes no sense to mention it now.

Chuck was totally right we’ve seen teams duck and dodge matchups before and it’s not going to stop going forward let’s not play ignorant. I respect the Clippers for trying all the way through even without PG.

Maybe Chuck would like the entire playoffs single-elim so he wouldn’t have to work as much.

I can understand what chuck coming from. Like yea if my team hasn’t really been click all year and I might need the extra game to figure out and get a good momentum sure Chuck is correct .

However more time then not, Ppl rather extra break to relax their body for the playoffs

I would completely agree with Ernie if it wasn’t for the KD trade. Until tonight, the Suns were undefeated with KD on the floor. This team scares me. No team in the west wants to face the Suns in the playoffs and I think Chuck is right to say that falling into the play-in would probably be an easier path to the conference finals (though I disagree that the Lakers are making it that far).

That said, winning the championship is about being the best team and that means facing whatever team comes along the way. You play to win and you take it one game at a time.

Either way, both can be right. However, this has been a thing for years. Chuck should already know this. Teams often weigh out the final seeding matchups to be in a more favorable position come playoff time—even before the Play-In.

Ernie has more of a point given that the Play-In is a single elimination format; while you can win in the Play-In and face an “perceived” easier opponent, you get less rest to start the Playoffs and have to play perfectly to qualify—especially at lower seeds. Pressure rides on higher seeds too regarding where the top teams sit.

No organization would reasonably go through the Play-In if they can avoid it—because the higher seed you are, the better your team should be. For teams that do find themselves in the Play-In range, they can decide how they want to play their cards on which matchups they’d have the best chance at winning against.

What does Charles playing in the NBA have to do with anything? Losing or winning certain games to avoid or play certain teams in the playoffs is vastly different from intentionally wanting to play in a play-in game. No team would willingly take that risk. It’s just illogical.
