Rachel Nichols, Amin Elhassan and Tracy McGrady break down why Dwight Howard has been able to see a career resurgence with the Los Angeles Lakers alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Dwight is a great story of redemption but these hot & cold takes on him are ridiculous. He’s a great role player & he’s on a team where he’s not the primary concern so he’s definitely doing his thing & doing some damage in that position.
His attitude has everything to do with his comeback but allow this man to finish the season before y’all start gassin’ him up.
I remember when they, and really a LOT of people said they’d take Joakim Noah and Kenneth Fareid over him. Even though he’s a first ball of Hall of Famer. He had one objectively bad year, and that was Atlanta. It was the moving around and locker room stuff that ruined his outlook. Now that he’s in LA—I think that if he had this mentality beforehand, he’d be greater than Patrick Ewing for sure.
It’s wild how people EVER thought Dwight wasn’t good.
Maybe he didn’t live up to his full potential, but that’s even more impressive. He’s been kinda goofing off/taking things lightly his whole career and is still one of the most CONSISTENTLY dominant big men we’ve ever seen. You don’t have to like him, but his numbers and performances don’t lie.
BULLSHIT NARRATIVE. Everyone knows EXACTLY what was going on with dwight. Nothing with his play, all about his off the court ‘issues’. Dude was always a good player.
Dwight playing with Lebron made the difference. If not playing with Lebron he wouldn’t get that much playing time. Lebron makes everyone look good because Lebron knows how to get everyone involved sacrifice his scoring. Lebron could easily score 50 point plus per game
Him not being the main guy on a team helped out too besides being healthy. No pressure and less expectations made him even better especially as a Laker.
Dwight never fell off, he was pushed off HOU and hasn’t been healthy. ESPN writes everyone off. They have been wrong about Rose, Melo, D12. Who have they been right about???
Let’s get it straight: Lakers fans didn’t hate Dwight because he wasn’t playing well or because he got injured, they hated him for NOT RE-SIGNING WITH LA THE FOLLOWING SEASON. Let’s not get it twisted.
If you ask a “IM A GOOD MAN TODAY” person a dumb question of why he is a stupid YESTERDAY, you are just trying to remove that guy the confidence, belief, etc. Being a crab stays as a crab. Stupid haters.
Dwight is that type of teammate I would love to play with especially with his positivity attitude right now. Dude is always smiling and hyping the crowd and we love it. He won not only the love in LA but all around the league.
Anyone else think this is kinda overblown? He’s been averaging career lows across the board and in the past few years he’s been struggling with injury. He’s doing well, but he’s not massively overachieving or anything
I think he knows he can’t carry a team so why not just be role player. Kobe, Jordan, LaBron, Hakeem, Tim Duncan, Dirk, we’re Super Star who carry that responsibility. Dwight just doesn’t have that..He good but not leadership material.

Patrick Ewing had an offensive game light years ahead of Dwight.

Because ESPN has always ran with the narrative that Dwight was selfish and a locker room pest without proof
And Shaq has also been very critical of Dwight from jump street

What’s crazy is having the opportunity to play on the same team twice and with two of the greatest in the game Kobe and now Lebron
