There is real DIVISION between Rudy Gobert and the guards Mitchell and Conley.. He’s unhappy that he’s not more involved. I think they will trade him or he will leave.
Mitchell’s output is TOO MUCH for them to win this series. You CANNOT expect a guard under 6’5″ to keep that up in the postseason.
Denver will advance and have more ways to beat the Clippers.. Whether they win or not will depend on guys like Porter Jr stepping up
It’s obvious here the Nuggets are far superior in terms of talent Jokic,Murray both playing like elite players, and they have very reliable depth. Jazz are without Bogdondavic,Gobert isn’t a scorer and Conley isn’t star anymore. Mitchell is the only guy thats good at getting his own offense out there. Clearly was a fluke 3-1 lead by the Jazz, Nuggets weren’t engaged defensively games 2-4, and the Jazz shot 50% from 3, once the Nuggets started to get going offensively much like they did in game 1 it’s too much for the Jazz to handle.
There is only one simple message to Coach Quin.
1. The Nuggets figured out Jazz offense COMPLETELY because they know the Jazz only want to shoot catch and shoot threes. They timed their defense to intercept passes like the one to JOe Ingles by Plumee. They also formed a wall the the top of the arc and knew Mitchell and others won’t shoot threes when there is a defender there. They have three lengthy defenders there to deter direct lob passes to Gobert because they knew Jazz’s basketball is one directional (vertical to the rim instead of Celtics’ style) and has no variations in terms of the angle of the pass and whether it is going to be off dribble penetrations.
2. Murray practiced one single move (and perfected it!!!!!!!) and repeated it all of 2nd half, esp. fourth quarter because he knows he can make it at high clip and Jazz has no answer when Jokic is there to screen.
There is only 2 things you need to do to win game 7. The Nuggets exhausted all their play sets in game 5 and 6.
1) you have to like I said in previous posts, shoot off-the-dribble threes, off-the-break, off-offensive rebounds threes at **DIFFERENT** locations, not just those 5 spots. You will have to have Ingles, Niang, Conley, O’Neal all made at least 3 threes per person, and at 50% or better. Otherwise, you are going to lose. Nuggets like Rockets are trying to outshoot you on threes with 50%+ efficiency.
2) figure out how to defend Murray and others’ three point moves. I don’t care if you don’t defend as well on layups, or close range. Just use the strategy like the Rockets do too prevent dunks and getting to the hoop. Rockets can do it, why can’t you? Just remember the Nuggets are going to repeat what they did in game 5 and 6 for all the threes above the arc Murray and others made. Stop there from shooting those altogether. Remember Murray is going to use the same moves, step-back, screen. All those need to be eradicated. Lastly, just don’t lose on defensive boards.
The 2 glaring weaknesses of the Jazz is free throw drawing via drives to basket and FT%. All the missed FTs by Gobert, ONeal, and Conley are the difference this game. The other weakness is the Jazz are not good at forcing turnovers like the Rockets and Thunder can in a hurry.
Man Jazz coaching on offense and dense was terrible. They could have thrown the ball inside to Gobert free up some shooters. And they made zero adjustments on defense
Rudy always leaves his man open for 3s 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️ there’s been countless times where I’ve seen it happen and I even knew the nuggets would tie the series it’s gonna suck knowing one of 2 great players will be eliminated cause this alone was one of the best series I’ve watched yet
