You’re wrong on this one, Chuck. You can’t have a rule where you only get punished the same amount that you put up. It’s an absolute no go to bet when you’re in the sport yourself. Everyone should be aware of the damage bets like this can lead to.

Betting $1,500 and losing $11 million doesn’t sound like a good bet or a wise choice to me.

I love Chuck. Now although I agree the punishment does not fit the crime, the INTEGRITY OF THE GAME ALWAYS BE UPHELD‼️ If sports leagues allow their players to bet of games then how can we look at the eventual champions (irrespective of the sport) with any level of respect?

I don’t think player betting is smart. Because he Aaron Roger’s throw a pick 6 at the there own 20 to win on the spread. I’d stop watching sports.

This goes on in sports all the time. Sports have been compromised for decades now.

As someone who lives in Australia, where gambling is an enormous societal problem that ruins plenty of lives ($20 Billion AUD lost annually with a population of only ~ 24 million) Chuck talking about goal posts moving and attitude changes to gambling is pretty sad. I agree that people are free to do whatever they want, but advertising and coercing ruinous behaviours like smoking and gambling is pretty immoral.

Anytime I think about sports gambling, I think of the movie the Last boy scouts opening football scene lol It would be hard to pay off a lot of the players nowadays because they make good money but it’s still a no go for players being able to gamble because depending on the player they still have the power to f over a team.

Nah he needs to lose 11 million. You can’t open Pandora’s box and let athletes gamble you must keep the integrity of the game

Agree 100% with Charles. A suspension for Ridley was understandable but for an entire season? Roger Goodell has got to go! Terrible commissioner

they should of gave him a 3 game suspension. Tom Brady has cheated in several occasions and gets 1 game suspension. NFL owners gamble all the time behind closed doors…ref have cheated too, they get a slap in the wrist…

Id love to hear Chuck talk about more mainstream topics than basketball, like politics and culture. He feels like the quintessential “everyman” and I think it would be super interesting PARTICULARLY if he’s not super versed on the topics. Get the average Joe perspective

It’s fair. He took a gamble breaking the rules to his real amazing paychecks

I think players should be able to gamble just not on their own teams games. Because they can effect the outcome of the game and therefore influence the result. I feel like better on other teams, games whatever should be fine, Let’s be real compared to other pro sports NFL players outside of the elite players aren’t netting truckloads of cash and generally have shorter careers. If they can use their knowledge of the game to maybe make or lose a little cash year to year i’m fine with it. Now if you saw a guy like Ridley bet 1mill on a Falcons loss and he dropped every pass that’d be a huge red flag.
