The NBA now is sort of hard to judge teams cause back in the Golden Era they had to play division rivals that were great teams 5 times per year like Jazz, Rockets, Spurs, and Nuggets. Now they hardly ever play those teams and when they do it’s like they don’t try. The Hawks looked like they didn’t try tonight. Too many teams take an off night now days and are ok with not trying a here or there, once a week. Seems like we got a bye game tonight cause hawks clearly didn’t have a game plan or try at all.

I’ve noticed that when teams foul the mavs and send them to the line that team usually wins. That is a very easy game plan to execute.

Tod Wilkinson they’re not the #1 offensive NBA team for nothing.

oakinW Still played 26 minutes. He’s really great at making flashy plays while losing

Michael Osakwe to answer your question , he got outplayed by a 2nd round player. And people that say he got injured. He played 26 min and the 2nd round player played 27 min..

      JB is a monster .

Trae young has been shooting terribly. He only gets many FTs to stat pad.. Mavs figured out a way to reduce his FT attempts and we all saw what happened.. The famed All star starter was beaten hands down by bench players..

KP and Doncic should come off the bench. This starting lineup tonight might have been the best of the year. I like Brunson starting. The new center they got is a pretty good player. He’s much better than powell.

    • Tod Wilkinson

      February 2, 2020 at 12:38 am

@winz That seems like 2 good lineups with balance in both lineups. I think Collystein is a pretty good player and I think he can start a few games here but I still don’t think he’s the answer. I think we need an All Star Center and we would be the favorites to win the Championship every year.

I think our offense is designed now to give the center a lot of room to work and open layups or dunks. sometimes 1 defender and sometimes no defenders. I think all these years Nellie has been bad a picking centers. Only 1 year they picked a decent center in 30 years and that 1 year they won the Championship easily. That’s not a coincidence.

Teams just don’t know how to guard centers anymore. A Prime David Robinson today would average 45 ppg and 18 rebounds with the most important stats being 4 blocks and 2 steals.

@Tod Wilkinson Stein is fine. Luka makes everyone better

    • North Dakota Bear

      February 2, 2020 at 1:02 am

@Tod Wilkinson eventually we will need to have KP and Luka on the court at the same time, because we can’t have KP playing less than 30 minutes a night. Eventually they will need to develop chemistry together and I think this season is a good start.

    • Tod Wilkinson

      February 2, 2020 at 1:41 am

@North Dakota Bear KP is somewhat mobile and pretty mobile for a 7’2 player but he tries to play like a SG too much and I just don’t think he has to moves or speed to do so. He needs to find something he can be great at and work at that. I don’t know how he will come back from the injury. I think 3 years of college would’ve helped him.

Doncic’s defense is ok and pretty good. His Defense reminds me of Andres Nocioni if compared with another Euro type player or Rick Fox and Barkley if compared to another player.. Doncic is a good defender at PG aswell. Also he rebounds so much. He is really one of the top 20 defenders in the NBA and

I think maybe the best one on the team. He gets an extra 7-8 possessions a game that they wouldn’t get otherwise so he also takes away about that many from the opponents.

He’s been winning games with defense and hustle this season NOT so much shooting. He’s a point guard that averages 10 rebounds per game. he also gets a lot of deflections, has great help defense, good close out defense and jumps the passing lanes at the right time on pick and roll defense. He’s always around the action and sees things before they happen.

Dallas seems to play better without Luka.

    • K P

      February 2, 2020 at 2:50 am

Joe Clyde they had a few good games without him. Don’t forget how he was balling out the first couple months and had them in 3rd-4th place until he got hurt.

    • Don White

      February 2, 2020 at 8:27 am

Joe Clyde No way, mavs are just the most efficient offense in the NBA this year. Check the stats. With or without Luka, they are still one of the best due to their deep bench and 3point shooting.

This is why I kept criticizing the Dallas coach, the team has good players, let them play. You keep insisting on the same line up every night, and the bench is full of talent. Let people play and let them play their game. Just like the cowboys who were constantly playing guys out of position and then being so da** predictable. The guy definitely has mastered his x&o ‘s on the board, but dude be flexible sometimes and let the chips fall where they may.

    • K P

      February 2, 2020 at 2:46 am

julini he’s over performing. If Dallas wouldn’t be playing right you would say the players were bad. Give credit were it’s due.

    • julini

      February 2, 2020 at 3:56 am

@K PKP, I could be wrong, just an opinion, I’m not one to insist to be always right. I do give him credit many times, in many of my previous comments. He’s one of the best as far as understanding the game. But its also fair to recognize that all of us, no matter who you are, have some room for improvements. In my opinion player rotation could improve this team like it did today. If he was out coaching all the rest, we could have had more to show for it. He has good players, who sadly never get any play time unless there’s an injury. Credit must be given but I also believe constructive criticism/conflict is necessary to avoid stagnation. Mixing things up could help this team significantly, or so I believe. Just an opinion, not absolute truth.

Philly trade for Trae Young. Toss Embid to the ATL

  18. Slim Shiii

    February 2, 2020 at 7:09 am

Trae became an all star starter jot because he deserves it but because the nba is trying to create the luka vs trae rivalry which is supposed to drive the ratings this decade.. There is no way he deserved to start while Beal and Booker couldn’t even get in
